2-and-a-half-year olds are beginning to use their developing skills to explore and discover the world around them. 2-year olds enjoy motor activities because of their advances in balance, controlled flexibility and posture control, yet they are still developing the turns and stops in a run. |

The Exploring My World ABC
Pre-school Program expands on the Discovering Me Toddler Program by providing continual opportunities for exploration of the environment in a safe setting. Our caregivers use their knowledge to reinforce developing language skills by
reading, repeating and singing all of our favourites. Singing, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes everyday is great fun for every 2-year-old, and with the abundance of repetition, they are learning language skills while having fun. The environment is arranged to give 2-year-olds the freedom to independently use the materials provided; yet caregivers are the facilitators who encourage and further develop the children’s interests.

Our world
In the Junior Preschool environment, the day is set up to support the need for each two-year-old to play alone or with his or her friends. Learning centers with safe and reliable materials are provided.
Blocks/Transportation
“Let’s build a rocket ship together” or “I want to build my own road” are just two sentences you may hear in this area as 2-year olds are experimenting with physical relationships and developing coordination.
Sensory
A space to explore our 5 senses. We might taste test apples or watch bubbles pop.
Dramatic Play
You may never know the size of a 2-year-old’s imagination until you are in dramatic play. A toy banana becomes a pretend telephone; a blanket becomes a tablecloth, or a napkin may turn into an airplane. Pretending and play are set up in an area similar to home.
Creative Art
Painting, colouring, and creating allows each child the freedom to use his/her ever-expanding imagination in a messy way.
All About Me
2-year-olds may begin to master many of their self-help skills, but caregivers will continue to encourage these skills with patience and kindness.
Potty Training
Together with our caregiver, you will decide on the appropriate time for toilet training. Efforts will focus on working as a team to help your child become independent. |
